Wheeling Suspension Bridge Rehabilitation Project

Advantage Steel & Construction was contracted by WVDOH to rehabilitate the historic Wheeling Suspension Bridge. Rehabilitation included the installation of brand-new wire cables and a complex lighting system, miscellaneous structural steel repairs, and overall cleaning and painting of the bridge. Replacing the existing stay and sway wire rope cables required a complex winch and pulley system and falsework towers. Brayman Construction Corporation's Foundation Division worked with Advantage to complete a complex repair of the main cable at the northeast anchorage vault where they drilled and installed a soldier pile and multiple anchors within extremely tight tolerances.
