7th Street Bridge Rehabilitation
7th Street Bridge Rehabilitation
Advantage Steel and Construction performed rehabilitation work on one of the “Three Sisters” self-anchored suspension bridges in the city of Pittsburgh. The extensive rehabilitation project included over 400,000 pounds of steel repairs on floor beams, stringers, towers, and truss members. A complete deck replacement was also performed on the 90 year old bridge, requiring extensive construction engineering and temporary support systems.
The complexity of the self-anchored suspension bridge required a designed tie-down system to secure the bridge while replacement of bearing pins and other repairs were being performed. Removal, fabrication and installation of the steel roadway curb system also occurred on the project, with a fresh coat of Aztec Gold covering all of the complex repairs throughout the bridge.
