CSX Youngstown

Advantage Steel and Construction had the opportunity to replace an existing through truss railroad bridge over the Mahoning River in Youngstown, Ohio for CSX/Brayman Construction. The complex erection required the new bridge to be constructed just upstream of the existing bridge, which remained in service.

The erection of the 490 foot four-span, through-girder bridge required critical lifts on a causeway, and temporary support systems. Assembly of the 11 foot deep girders required extensive planning and design for successful execution.

Key Construction Elements:

  • Large Girder Erection
  • Railroad Erection
  • Erection on a Causeway
  • Crawler Crane Erection
  • Temporary Support Systems
  • Bearing Installation

General Work Activities:

  • Steel Erection
  • Demolition
