E. H. Swindell Bridge

Advantage Steel & Construction was contracted by the City of Pittsburgh as the prime contractor to perform the fabrication and installation of steel repairs to the bridge. The structure consists of a series of parallel steel stringers on a multi-span bridge that supports the roadway.

By executing these elements, Advantage Steel was able to expedite the project, opening the bridge early from its full closure. The Advantage crew installed a Quick-Deck platform under the bridge deck to access the repair areas; and utilized fabricated temporary support beams to replace the beam ends, stiffeners and install the repair plates on the existing floorbeams.

To finish up the project, Advantage also cleaned, primed and painted the repairs; and patched the roadway with High Early concrete.
