I-279 / SR 28 Connector

Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Owner: PennDOT, District 11
General Contractor: Brayman Construction Corp.
Value: $7,900,000

This project entailed the erection of a new four-span, curved steel girder structure that would connect SR 28 South to SR 279 South in downtown Pittsburgh. The new structure was built over top of SR 279 and underneath SR 579. Tight vertical and horizontal clearance made the steel erection tasks complicated, but Advantage worked closely with Brayman Construction Corp. and PennDOT to coordinate the work.

Due to the location of this project in proximity to the City, the erection had to be completed during a weekend closure of I 279 Northbound and Southbound.
